After 7 years of missionary service in Amsterdam, Pastor Manjohn Wong and his wife, Christina, felt called to start from scratch a multi-cultural church suitable for the next generation. They moved to midtown Toronto to live and to serve the community here.
On May 24, Midtown Alliance Church (MAC) held her first worship service in the building of the First Christian Reformed Church of Toronto. Right from the beginning, Pastor Manjohn and Christina committed themselves to training the next generation of missionaries and pastors. Some of their mentees served with them at MAC.
We are convinced that followers of Jesus should follow the example of Jesus by serving the needy. We proclaim the good news by our deeds and words. Beginning in November, 2009, we regularly send a team to Toronto Alliance Church to join them in their service to the homeless and poor. Since Christmas 2009, we continually send a team to sing with and visit the veterans at Sunnybrook Hospital. In March, 2010, under the leadership of Cynthia we started Club Oasis to offer parents of children with disabilities respite from their exhausting routine. Starting at Christmas 2010, we have the privilege of supporting the ministry of Joanna Yee, Director of Rahab Ministry. We provide volunteers to serve in their teams which reach out to sex workers in Toronto. We aspire to be light and salt of Toronto.
